Last week I stepped out of my “life as usual” and flew to Colorado for a week long meditation retreat with Joe Dispenza.
No phone. No socials. No work. Just me, 1,500 other peace seekers, and 3:30am wake-up calls to meditate into the quantum field.
It was part relaxation, part mind blowing.
I’ve meditated for years, but this was the first time I went all in.
35 hours in fact in one week!
Here’s what I took away and how it might help you live better and run your business with more ease.
1. My life was far noisier than I realised
By day two, the contrast was clear.
My “normal” life? Frantic. Constant input. Thinking. Doing. Pushing.
At the retreat? Space. Stillness. Breathing.
Turns out… life isn’t supposed to feel like a never-ending to-do list.
2. Presence is where the magic happens
Not stuck in the past. Not stressing about the future. Just being here now.
It’s a simple idea, but it takes practice.
In the stillness in the present moment, I felt creative again. Inspired. More me.
Your best ideas, solutions, and energy don’t come when you’re frantic.
They come when you make space in the present.
3. Time slowed down
No rushing. No multitasking. Just focus.
And weirdly… the days felt longer. Fuller. More meaningful.
The faster we go the less time we have. So, take a breath and slow down.
Stop trying to cram so much in and there will be space for you to create new things.
4. Weird coincidences started showing up
Or as Joe Dispenza calls them: synchronicities.
It was like the universe started playing along.
Not because I worked harder, but because I stopped trying to control everything.
What if you let go a little and let some magic in?
5. You can’t attract what you feel separate from
Here’s a biggie:
If you constantly focus on what you don’t have, you create more lack.
Feeling “not enough,” “not there yet,” or “not like them” actually pushes success away.
You attract what you emotionally align with. (Not just what’s on your vision board.)
6. The space between us is what connects us
A bit woo-woo? Maybe. But stay with me.
I felt this deep sense of being part of something bigger.
Not separate or alone. Just connected.
Fear, stress and frustration are often byproducts of feeling separate.
From ourselves. From others. From purpose.
When we connect, we feel happier.
7. Want a better life? Feel better emotions
Joe talks about low-frequency vs high-frequency emotions.
Stress, fear, anger, jealousy = low.
Gratitude, joy, freedom, love = high.
High frequency emotions will fuel a better business and a better life? You’ll also live longer and have less disease. Who wouldn’t want that.
It’s not about faking positivity. It’s about practicing emotional awareness and choosing what you want to feel more of. (Even when it’s hard.)
8. Gratitude isn’t just a buzzword
Gratitude rewires your brain to stop focussing on lack, which pulls you further from what you want.
Writing down things I’m grateful for each day has been a mainstay for me.
Not big stuff, just little things.
It is the feeling you have when you have what you want, so if you start feeling gratitude, you will start attracting more things in your life to be grateful for.
9. Challenges give you energy
Framing matters.
A problem drains you, whereas a challenge energises you.
Same situation but a totally different mindset.
Try it next time something feels hard.
As a business owner you will have plenty of things to test this on!
10. You can’t create a new future while emotionally living in the past
You might want new results, but if you’re still stuck in old emotions, nothing changes.
Letting go of resentment, frustration, or fear creates space for what’s next.
11. Feel Worthy Now
Don’t wait for the perfect client, revenue goal, or LinkedIn likes to feel worthy.
Feel it now.
Imposter syndrome is a biggie for recruitment founders and it’s a blocker to success. Let it go, find things that validate your worth and watch more business come your way.
This retreat wasn’t about escaping life.
It was about showing up for it. Being more present and more connected to others and the energy field for creation.
And no, you don’t need a mountain or monk robes to get the benefits.
I came back completely fulfilled. Alive. No sense of lack or fear, just a love of life.
And the tools to keep it that way.
So, if that sounds inviting for you, here’s a few simple things you can do every day to feel the magic too.
My 4 tops tips to attract a life you love.
- Spend a few minutes every day noting what you are grateful for.
- Notice when you’re feeling low frequency emotions, take a few deep breaths and change to a better emotion. Find it hard? Go back to gratitude or think about someone you love and that will help you switch.
- Spend just 10-20 minutes in silence when you first wake up. Don’t worry about the thoughts that come flooding in, just notice them and keep letting them go. No need to fight them, eventually they will quieten. It can help to use a word that means nothing such as “Ohm” to quieten that little voice in your head.
- Take frequent slow deep breathes throughout the day to reset yourself.
Because when you feel better, you do better.
Cheers
BK
