Recruitment Garage

Are you solving for problems you don’t have yet?

Let’s play a game. I’ll describe a founder, you tell me what’s actually wrong with their week.

They are short on jobs and haven’t landed a client in six weeks. But this week they spent two hours picking a font and images for their new website and an evening googling “how do I sell my agency”?

What’s actually wrong?

They don’t have enough clients.

That’s it. That’s the whole problem. Everything else is a very expensive, very convincing form of procrastination.

I see this constantly… founders focusing on problems they don’t even have yet.

And it’s not just a recruitment thing. Startup Genome studied over 3,200 growth companies and found seven in ten had scaled some part of the business; hired, branded, systemised before they’d actually earned the right to.

It’s a big factor in why many businesses fail. Not competition or the market.

Simply doing the right thing at the wrong time.

The recruitment version:

Selling the agency in your head, while you’re still the one running the desk. Writing SOPs for a process you’ve done twice. Creating onboarding welcome packs for clients who don’t exist yet.

None of it’s wrong, eventually. It’s just wrong now, and every hour on it is an hour not spent doing the one thing that actually fixes the problem: getting in front of a client.

So here’s a harsh question, sent with love: What are you spending time on solving today for a business you don’t have yet?
