Recruitment Garage

3 success traits of top recruitment founders

I recently listened to a killer Rich Roll podcast.

It was an interview with entrepreneur and restaurateur Michael Chernow. If you don’t know him, his story is wild:

  • Grew up in New York with an abusive father
  • Addicted to drugs by 13
  • Sober by 23

He has since gone on to live a deeply fulfilling life (Entrepreneur, restaurant founder and all round powerhouse) and in the podcast he shared what has made this possible.

  • Structure
  • Discipline
  • Patience

The three traits Michael credited for everything he’s achieved mirror exactly what I see in all the successful recruitment agency owners I work with.

Structure

Structure brings clarity.

It helps you know what to do, when to do it, and (most importantly) why it matters.

In the recruitment agency world, without structure, it’s easy to bounce from putting out client fires, to an accounts query, to a tech issue, i.e. reacting instead of building.

The best founders? They have systems that support them.

Discipline

Discipline keeps you going when motivation dips (we all feel that!).

You won’t feel inspired every day,  but showing up consistently builds real traction.

The high-performers I work with are committed to consistent activity.

And finally…

Patience

This one’s underrated (and rare.)

We live in a world of instant gratification and overnight success stories. But real business growth is a long game.

Every founder who’s built something meaningful has learned to sit with the discomfort of progress and to trust the work even when the results take time.

Sadly, I see too many recruitment founders trying to out-hussle the growth game with quick hacks, shortcuts and shiny objects.

But all this does is create stress, burnout and rob you of a great future.

If one of these traits is missing, despite all the passion, commitment and long hours you’re doing, you’re probably making what could be a great journey – hard.

And you deserve more

Which of these do you think would make the biggest impact for you?

More structure, discipline or patience?

Also, I’ll drop the podcast link here if you’re interested – Michael’s is certainly an inspiring story.

Cheers
