⛴ A few years ago I took my kids on cruise.
As soon as they saw the giant waterslide it was on.
“Can we go mum, can we, can we?”
Sure, I said, as I was thinking there is no way one of them is going to manage (as she has cerebral palsy), but who am I to burst her bubble and not at least let her try.
🔝 I helped her climb up what seemed like a hundred stairs to the top.
When she stepped foot on the platform and saw the opening of the slide, she suddenly went from excited to very quiet…. and a little pale!
We let a few people past us and after a few minutes of trying to build up the courage she said she didn’t want to do it now.
🔻 No probs – Down we went, back down the 100 stairs and a few hours later she said she wanted to try again.
OK – let’s give it another whirl!
🔝Up we went – up the 100 stairs with me thinking this isn’t going to end well.
This time she actually sat at the top of the slide while some very patient attendants waited for about 5 minutes for her to go… but nuh, not this time.
🔻Back down the stairs we went.
And yep you guessed it, a few hours later she wanted to try again.
🔝Up the 100 stairs we went together, past the platform and into the tunnel.
💦 She sat there for a few minutes and then just like that she let go and she was off!
I met her at the bottom with this gleaming smile, she was so proud of herself and pretty soon she had another go; no fear just pure enjoyment.
We learn so much from our kids, don’t we…
I think the lesson here is that sometimes we just have to feel the fear and do it anyway.
Is there something in your business you’d love to do but fear is stopping you?
