AI is such a big conversation and today I’d like to keep it light and share a few ideas from the masters.
I hope you find it interesting. This is more generic AI that can help you run and market your business as opposed to the specific function of recruitment.
My goal is to keep us in the AI conversation and also inspiring you to keep testing tools in your business to get familiar with AI and keep up with its rapid evolution.
Neil Patel, arguably the world’s leading digital marketer said he feels like “he’s just scratching the surface and getting familiar with AI”
Not sure if that makes me feel better or worse!
He recommends testing AI one platform at a time and the areas he’s really liking AI for right now are:
- Research
- Data analysis to stop wastage and see opportunities – huge area
- Ideation
- Content (an easy place to start) Converting videos to reels to blogs to a newsletter etc is a cinch with AI tools like our old friend ChatGPT and AI editing tools like Opus clip.
The winners will use AI for research, repurpose and edit content but the human will write it.
Neil also shared a video AI avatar tool called heygen that is a fun one to play with and see how far AI video generation has come.
I just tried the free version and it’s freakishly realistic. Apart from the fact I didn’t upload my voice and had a perfect American accent!
We need to be testing and playing with AI in our businesses. We don’t have to go all in at once, but we do need to be keeping up and taking steps beyond the comfort of just using ChatGPT.
Perhaps pick a tool like lindy.ai to help with email management or your scheduling and see what it does. Most of these tools have a free trial period. We started testing lindy.ai recently and the output quality is excellent.
Some advice from the masters
- AI isn’t perfect and don’t expect it to be. There will be errors, so ensure you check its work.
- The creative side is arguably the easiest place to start with AI. i.e content creation.
- Remember the data is only as accurate as what’s on the web. Bad inputs mean bad outputs
Use AI in an environment you can control. i.e as a first step don’t embed AI that is too sophisticated. Start with simple.
Play with it. Keep experimenting for 30 minutes/day.
If you have a problem in your business, there will be an AI solution. Just look for it. For example you can now build a website with hostinger in minutes not weeks. No experience required. You know that?
Your brand is your only true differentiator. Everything else can be copied.
Be careful that AI amplifies your brand and doesn’t dilute it.
“AI is the biggest change in our world since the invention of electricity; bigger than the internet. And, if you’re not using it for 30 minutes/day you don’t understand.” Seth Godin
Agentic AI is the biggest opportunity for businesses right now. Previous AI assistants were rule based with limited ability to act independently agentic AI is more empowered to do more on our behalf. A great application for small business is with financial analysis. Agentic AI can analyse market trends and predict financial risk and do financial modelling.
Dan Martell (super successful tech entrepreneur) shares that right now he’s spending more of his time with his AI Agents because they are able to get context of the situation and make decisions based on that context. And it can act as you in places such as your inbox and your calendar.
Some of the AI tools he’s recommending are Make for AI workflow automation, Sift to combat fraud, Trainual to help with SOPs, Brevity to summarize long texts.
I hope there’s a couple of ideas in here to help you on your AI journey.
In summary, the gist I hear from those advising small businesses is to look at each area of your business and actively look for AI solutions to help because sometimes it’s not obvious what you need until you start exploring the market.
