20 reasons founders stall (and what to do instead)

Are you executing on what matters?

I sat down last night with a cuppa and made a list of the reasons I see that cause recruitment founders to stall.

Then I had something a little stronger to come up with the antidotes. 😊

Sometimes spotting problems is easier than figuring out the solution. (Thinking this way even has its own name: Inversion Thinking.)

So, here’s a list of the most common reasons I see founders stall and a suggested action you can take to start to overcome each one.

No clear plan. Unsure what to do.

👉Start by creating 3 goals for the year so you have something to plan for.

No time.

👉Find 3 things to STOP doing that aren’t serving you.

Frozen because you don’t know where to start.

👉Lower the bar. Just focus on the first step. All success starts there.

Losing sight of why it matters.

👉Re-connect with the reasons why you started your business.

Procrastination.

👉One word NIKE – just do it!

Waiting for the “Right” time.

👉Remind yourself time kills deals. The right time is now.

Thinking you need to know everything first.

👉Focus on progress, not perfection.

Self-doubt.

👉Separate facts from feelings. That voice in your heads often tells fibs.

Fear of success!

👉This ties into being comfortable with the familiar even if it’s not what you want. Embrace the unfamiliar.

Fear of failure.

👉Flip the script. Instead of “What if I fail?”, ask “What if this works?”

Hanging on to bad habits.

👉Don’t just quit. Replace. For eg., instead of scrolling LinkedIn aimlessly, set a 5 minute timer so you are more intentional.

Trying to do it all alone.

👉Ask for help early and often. Ask WHO can do this for you not HOW you can do it.

Lack of accountability.

👉Get an accountability buddy and keep each other on track.

Too many ideas.

👉Create an ideas “parking lot” and just pick one to start.

Not knowing the best tools.

👉Don’t google “Best CRM”. Ask yourself what problem do you want solved. Start with the need, and then find the tool.

Overcomplicating the process.

👉Ask yourself what is essential and what you can remove.

Doing the same thing and hoping for a better result.

👉Ask yourself is this still working? If no, stop doing it and find a new way.

Lack of enjoyment.

👉Reconnect with the parts that energise you and start delegating those that drain you.

Just plain tired.

👉Stop pushing through like it’s a strategy. You’re depleted. Rest and everything will improve.

Beliefs that don’t serve you.

👉Start by noticing what they are, for eg, “I’m not good at…” and replace with something that serves you.

Whatever’s tripping you up right now isn’t permanent.

The moment you spot it you can start fixing it.

You know what to do….

Cheers
